Toxic Management System Operator

Position Description: Candidate shall be required to provide experienced gas management services that will provide Total Gas Management Services including routine cylinder changes (hazardous gases and gases in cabinets), gas delivery equipment preventive maintenance, installation of new gas equipment and laboratory tool hook-up. Technician must have a minimum of a secret security clearance, or the ability to obtain a security clearance at the Contractor’s expense. Responsibilities:

Equipment Services:

  • Coordinate with scientist and engineers to discuss requirements and prepare for gas cylinder exchange
  • Performa leak check primary gas handling equipment/ and provide results to the Safety and Health Branch and lab manager
  • Coordinate start-up with Safety and Health Office and lab manager

Cylinder Changes:

  • Control access to gas cabinets and termination boxes
  • Transport cylinders from loading dock/storage area to gas cabinet/cylinder rack
  • Perform cylinder change and return empty cylinder to loading dock

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Monitor gas delivery performance
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedule for gas delivery equipment
  • Notify lab manager when it is necessary to repair, rebuild or replace gas delivery equipment
  • Repair or replace gas delivery equipment as needed

Failure Analysis:

  • Determine causes of any gas delivery equipment failure and provide information to Lab manager and technical POC
  • Determine causes of gas failure and provide results to Lab manager and technical POC

Gas Services:

  • Coordinate/Alert for Just In Time (JIT) Inventory Management with the Lab Manager and Hazard material custodian.
  • Alert Hazard material custodian when inventory of hazardous gases are approaching pre-set thresholds.
  • Provide cylinder information as requested by the Hazard material custodian.
  • Coordinate with Hazard material custodian for purchases of gases needed for TGM fulfillment (breathing air, purge gases, liquid nitrogen system gases, etc.)
  • Incoming Cylinder Inspections
  • Coordinate incoming cylinder inspections with either the Hazard material custodian to verify gas and cylinder specifications are met.
  • Visually inspect exterior of cylinders for damage.
  • Perform leak inspection of cylinders.

System Safety Audits:

  • Annual gas delivery system inspections.
  • Inspect fittings/welds at gas manifolds.
  • Inspect TGM system piping for integrity.
  • Provide annual status reports of gas delivery system to Lab manager and technical POC.
  • Coordinate any recommended fixes with to Lab manager and technical POC.

The gas management candidate shall have successfully completed at a minimum the following training:

  • Maintenance training
  • Basic trouble shooting
  • Gas source repair
  • Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Refresher Training for individuals designated to
    wear respirators
  • Coordinate any recommended fixes with to Lab manager and technical POC.
  • Safety Highly qualified candidates will have demonstrated experience conducting:
  • Cylinder handling procedures
  • Leak check procedures for incoming cylinders
  • Proper handling of “leaker” cylinders
  • Systems training
  • Determination of cylinder content
  • Sustaining operation of gas delivery equipment
  • Understanding of Toxic/Flammable Gas Monitoring Systems including :
  • Assist in the operation of the toxic/flammable gas monitoring systems
  • Reset monitor in the event of an alarm
  • Document when preventive maintenance is necessary (calibration, testing, repairs)Reset gas management detection system (Notifier Panel) in the event of any system troubles.

C.4.2. Waste Water Treatment Systems Operation:

  • The Contractor shall operate and maintain the waste water treatment system in accordance with OEM recommendations, specifications, guidance/procedure and standards. The Waste Water Treatment System includes the following components.

C.4.2.1. Heavy Metal Removal System:

  • The U.S. Filter-WTS Batch Treatment System is custom designed to provide effective batch treatment of metal bearing wastewater. The equipment has been designed to minimize operated intervention while maximizing the system’s effectiveness. The batch Treatment System is designed to operate automatically after the operator initiates the treatment program, and to process the waste in a continuous step-wise fashion.

C.4.2.2. Acid Waste Neutralization System:

  • The NS-200-3 is a multi-stage, acid waste neutralization system, which utilizes three stirred tank reactors. This system is configured so that 70-80% of the neutralization takes place in the first reactor and the remaining 20-30% in the second reactor. The third reactor is used for any final pH trim necessary to meet the required effluent limits. This configuration provides the necessary retention time for optimum pH control. The addition of neutralizing reagents takes place automatically utilizing the U.S. Filter control algorithm. The PLC provides proportional addition of neutralizing reagents and ensures that the desired effluent pH is maintained at all times. This control process also prevents the over-addition of reagents.

Reports/Meetings/Plans/Certifications:

  • During the performance of this Task Order, the Contractor will be required to gather, collect, record and generate data related to various aspects of the requirement. The Contractor shall execute and provide the following reports/plans in accordance with the corresponding delivery schedules set forth by this PWS.

Position Requirements :

  • US Citizenship is mandatory
  • Must be able to obtain a secret clearance
  • Minimum (5) years of DOD or commercial experience in purchasing or finance
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience performing financial records processing and financial records management
  • Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office and financial software applications
  • Hands on experience with statistical analysis and statistical packages
  • Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; oral and written.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work requirements and priorities.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment
  • Ability to interact with customers effectively in resolving routine problems.

The selected candidate will be a contract employee of General Technical Services LLC (GTS). US citizenship is required (security clearance). There may be occasional travel.
